Senior/Assistant Financial Accountant
Deadline for applications: 30 April 2018
Due to recent promotions, we’re currently looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant and Senior Financial Accountant for our Financial Control team, which is based at our offices in central Brighton, a stone’s throw from the train station. If you’re a talented, passionate and energetic part-qualified accountant, and you’re interested in working within a complex, global and fast paced business, then you should definitely keep reading.
Why should I want the job?
It’s an opportunity to work for Study Group, the 2017 Pathway Company of the Year (Education Investor Awards 2017). We’re a complex, ever evolving business, and we believe in empowering the people who work for us – so if you have ideas, we want to hear them! These jobs offer plenty of variety, and the chance to get involved in projects as well as doing the “day job”. And you’ll be working in the thriving heart of a great city.
As an Assistant Financial Accountant you’ll be responsible for the integrity of the general ledger for our North American business – so management of general ledger entries, reconciliation of partner university payments and receipts, variance analysis, balance sheet reporting, reconciliation and controls, monitoring of systems and processes, and relationship management with FP&A teams across the Group. The North American business is forecasting significant growth over the next few years, and you’ll be developing systems and processes to support the growth – so you’ll have to be up for a challenge.
As well as performing the duties above for our European Higher Education business, the Senior Financial Accountant has ownership for cash flow forecasting across the Group (GBP and Euro), and is responsible for the management and development of the Financial Control team (three Assistant Financial Accountants).
What experience do you need?
You’ll be a part qualified accountant and you’ll be able to clearly show progression in your career to date. You’ll have experience of preparing financial accounts, and strong Excel and problem solving skills. Ideally, you’ll have worked in a reasonably large, complex business, and have experience of accounting in multiple currencies. But if you don’t have this, but you tick our other boxes, we would love to hear from you.
Study Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students, and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the role, including checks with past employers, an Enhanced Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and overseas criminal records if appropriate.
