We’re looking to hire an exceptional senior finance professional to be deputy director of our Commercial Finance team. Based in our Brighton offices, five minutes’ walk from the train station, the team supports operations and support functions across our businesses in the UK, mainland Europe and North America.
In this job you’ll have sole responsibility for FP&A activity within our Higher Education North American division, which is headquartered in New York. You’ll also act as “second in command” to our Commercial Finance Director.
So why should I want the job?
Our North American business is relatively young, but has an exceptional leadership team and has already enjoyed some great success, and we have very ambitious plans for further growth. So you’ll be working with some very influential and entrepreneurial stakeholders to help them drive forward a market with enormous potential. Also, as the second in command of the commercial finance department, you’ll support the leadership of the team and drive a culture of openness, collaboration and continuous improvement.
It’s an opportunity to work for Study Group, the 2017 Pathway Company of the Year*, in a newly created role. We’re recruiting this job with succession planning in mind, so it’s a great opportunity for career development. And you’ll be working in the heart of a great city.
Please note that there will be regular travel to the US/Canada (probably once a quarter.)
*Education Investor Awards 2017
What skills will I need for the job?
You’ll probably be a qualified accountant (exceptional QBEs will be considered.) You’ll be an experienced business partner with first rate relationship building skills, able to collaborate with demanding stakeholders and challenge where necessary.
You’ll have experience of driving out and managing the monitoring of non-financial data as well as financial KPIs. You’ll be expected to present data and narrative in a way that is engaging and easy to understand, so you’ll need strong communication skills, in particular experience of preparing MS PowerPoint decks.
You’ll be an experienced leader with a track record of managing and developing teams. And you’ll have the ability to operate within a complex, global organisation.
What will you pay me?
Between £65,000 and £75,000 DOE, plus a discretionary bonus of up to 10%.
