Job overview

As a highly commercial, rapidly expanding business, Study Group needs to be able to remain agile and flexible. Robust business intelligence is essential, and the job of Senior BI Developer is seen as a very important one.

In this job you’ll be at the forefront of Study Group’s drive for the BI team to partner more closely with other business operations. You’ll work within the marketing team, partnering with your stakeholders to design solutions to data analysis challenges. As well as report development, in this job you’ll be involved in a wide range of other activities like user training, ETL system maintenance and dashboard development.

Key responsibilities

BI Report Development

  • Enhance the quality and processing of current reports
  • Design and develop new BI reports
  • Implement new report delivery methods such as bursting, mobile applications, etc.

User Training

  • Prepare training notes on BI reports
  • Conduct remote and onsite user training

ETL System Maintenance

  • Understanding the current ETL regime
  • Maintain the data quality and governance
  • Troubleshooting ETL issues

Study Info Dashboard Development

  • Analyse the dashboard requirement of various stakeholders
  • Acquire necessary skill set and training on IBM Cognos
  • Development of dashboard solutions

Experience and Qualifications required

You’ll probably have a degree in maths, statistics, science or an IT related discipline, and at least three years BI development experience in a commercial environment. You’ll have experience of Cognos (this is non negotiable), and T-SQL/SQL Server. Qualifications in data analytics, visualisation or big data techniques would be useful.

You’ll have superb data analytical and problem solving skills, but you’ll also be an effective communicator, able to understand the “marketing mindset” and communicate in an effective and engaging manner.
