Job Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Online Media Specialist to join the newly created global online team that is playing a vital role as we start our journey into the world of Online Learning. This interesting and varied job role will give you the opportunity to take ownership of the media that is produced for our catalogue of online programmes. Working with the team, you’ll need a well-rounded knowledge of pre- and post-production knowledge, basic studio experience, and ideas of how to streamline the process of how content is created. This position is a work from home job role, however, there will be travel when required.

Salary: £25,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Key Responsibilities

Leading on media products

  • Conceptualising, organising and monitoring all media projects.
  • Deciding on suitable development strategies to ensure all projects are completed on time and to specification, including coordinating cross-project activities.
  • Managing resources and suite.
  • Apply change, risk and resource management, reporting and escalating to senior management as needed.

Creative/Innovation lead

  • Lead on the creative concepts, guidelines and strategies for instructional video design.
  • Directing and motivating the team, supporting them to use their talents effectively and expand the creative capabilities.
  • Exploring new opportunities to use media to enhance the student experience.

Pre-Production (Innovation)

  • Work closely with Learning Designers to develop media content and storyboards for online and blended modules.
  • Work with academics to develop scripts and clear narratives before the production process.
  • Champion the use of new media technologies and innovative teaching.
  • Organise and maintain media assets so they can be reused across modules.
  • Implement/improve processes to improve the development of media-based resources.
  • Meet regularly with Learning Designers and Subject Matter Experts to review the performance of the content.
  • Seek to amend practices to ensure continued improvement.


  • Responsibility for the media suite setup and readiness for filming. This includes lights, props, equipment, scripts, autocue, and so on.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are briefed on their expectations during production, including Faculty, Learning Designers to ensure logical sequencing and smooth running.
  • Shoot scenes according to requirements, ensuring quality footage from a fixed or moving position.
  • Ensure the reliability and consistency of content produced.
  • Overall responsibility for all outputs from the production process.


  • Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
  • Review shooting script and raw material to ensure consistency and continuity from scripts/storyboard.
  • Create rough and final cuts, adding dialogues, graphics and effects as required.
  • Continually explore and implement new editing technologies and best practices to maximise efficiency across the whole media team.
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of instructional media.


  • Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the use of media technology in education.
  • Hands-on experience in creative process, concept, graphic design and innovation development.
  • Significant experience in media pre/post and production, with proven knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity.
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio, including a solid experience with editing software packages (e.g. Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut).
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills.
  • Experience of working with academic staff to design, develop and evaluate resources.
  • Ability to lead a team and manage the successful delivery projects
  • Proven experience as camera operator
