Job overview

To clean within the onsite housekeeping service which cleans 253 student rooms.

Key responsibilities

  • To provide a weekly clean to each students room to a high standard.
  • You are responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself the students, visitors and other members of staff.
  • To work within COSHH regulations.
  • Vacuum clean carpets.
  • Dust and polish furniture and fittings.
  • Clean metal fixtures and fittings.
  • Empty and clean rubbish bins.
  • Dispose of rubbish in a sanitary manner.
  • Clean washbasins, mirrors and showers.
  • Make up beds and change linen as required.
  • Clean windows as scheduled.
  • Make students beds weekly.
  • Sort, fold and put away clean laundry.
  • Shampoo carpets and upholstery.
  • Operate mechanized cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition.
  • Monitor and report the necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Work within the companies ‘Child Protection Policy’.
  • To complete the necessary paperwork and documents.
  • To attend team meetings as and when required
  • To attend any training courses as required including those which may take place outside of normal working hours.
  • To carry out any reasonable request by a member of the management team


  • COSHH awareness (Essential)
  • Fire safety awareness (Desirable)
  • Child protection Level 1 & 2 (Desirable)
  • Customer service awareness (Essential)
  • Cleaning experience in a hotel or similar environment
  • Possess excellent knowledge of cleaning procedures able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of C.O.S.H.H.
  • Exceptionally high standards of cleanliness able to maintain these standards throughout
  • Proven cleaning skills with an ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Good communication skills able to build rapport with both colleagues and customers
  • Able to time manage – pro-active and be organised with a flexible approach
  • Able to adapt to changing workloads and tasks
  • High standard of professional conduct
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours as required
