Bellerbys College London is looking for a Chef Manager to join and manage our Catering Team! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience as a Head Chef or Chef Manager to manage our on-site college Kitchen Operations. With shifts mostly Monday to Friday this is the perfect role for someone with the relevant experience looking for a good work/life balance however you must be flexible for the occasional weekend work.

You will be friendly, organised and flexible with the ability to build rapport with your team, our students and stakeholders. We want you to have a passion for home cooked food from fresh ingredients and bring enthusiasm, ideas and flair to the food service! Some of this role will be office based so you must also possess a good understanding of Microsoft office.

40 hours per week Monday to Friday with the occasional weekends.

Key responsibilities

  • To comply with statutory Health and Safety, Food safety and Fire regulations
  • To take full operational responsibility for food production and services including hands on as required (Breakfast, lunch, hot snacks, small deli, Dinner & hospitality)
  • To ensure food production and service is of the highest standard, improving and maintaining customer satisfaction by offering quality products that are of good value, seasonal, well presented and innovative
  • To ensure that all services are available at the required time and meet the agreed standards able to adapt to a changing workload and be flexible to the business needs
  • To take full responsibility for stock management including purchasing, storage, monthly stock takes and wastage.
  • To have a pro-active and thorough approach to the management of Food Safety and Health and Safety maintaining exceptional standards in this area in line with legislation and company policy.
  • Effectively manage cost of sales/budget to required targets through efficient purchasing, stock management and the pro-active control of wastage
  • Ensure all gross margins are achieved and to be accountable for any fluctuations and results. Obtain a clear understanding of the set budgets and develop menus in line with those budgets.
  • To complete all management paperwork including day to day personnel (Annual leave, payroll, absence, training records etc) admin reports, invoicing, on-boarding/training and finance reports to the required deadlines
  • To effectively manage, train and lead the Catering team ensuring a motivated, efficient and organised team


  • Food safety level 3-4
  • NVQ L3 Food preparation or equivalent
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Health & Safety level 2 or equivalent
  • COSHH awareness
  • Fire safety certificate
  • Child protection Level 1 & 2
