Bellerbys College is a well-established international company based in a modern building in central Brighton, close to the rail station. The college is thriving with atmosphere and a hub of activity. We are looking for a Foundation Programme Exams Officer to be responsible for all aspects of administration, organisation and smooth running of all Foundation examinations and assessment as well as support and work collaboratively with the Public Exams Officer as required.

This is an ideal role for someone with strong IT skills and high attention to details. Previous exams office experience would be preferred as well as working knowledge of database management systems.

Key responsibilities

  • The full administration and oversight of all Foundation examinations, and other assessment types.
  • Entering students identified by group lists for examinations using appropriate computer systems
  • Providing information on examinations in an appropriate format for students and staff.
  • Dealing with issues surrounding timetable clashes and the close supervision of affected students.
  • Liaising with and booking venues for examinations and all summative assessments.
  • Collating recording and monitoring resits, reattempts and retakes of works and entries and grades for examinations and communicating information as required.
  • Managing the administrative requirements of coursework.
  • Liaising with appropriate school staff over examination entries, including access for students with particular special needs and ‘special consideration’ applications as required by regulations.
  • Reporting to finance the cost of re-attempt assessments as necessary for each individual candidate.
  • Checking invoices relating to examinations in collaboration with the Public Exams Officer.
  • Organising invigilators, readers and scribes as necessary with support from the Public Exams Officer ensuring that exam regulations are adhered to.
  • Manage examination papers and results from receiving papers, distributing to markers, checking and updating appropriate computer systems to reporting and distribution of results. Checking accuracy of personal details and grades issued.
  • Managing and overseeing requests for viewing scripts after sessions.
  • Liaising with teaching and support staff, including maintenance, regarding the furnishing of appropriate venues for the conduct of examinations.
  • Preparation of exam statement packs for students at Centre Board Meetings.
  • Flexibility of working hours during exam periods.


  • A first degree is desirable but not essential
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Mail Merge
