Finance Officer

Bellerbys Brighton is a co-educational international college which specialises in providing a high quality British Education for predominantly international students from over 60 different countries around the world and preparing them for university. We are seeking to appoint a full time Finance Officer to provide administrative support to the Head of Finance and Operations. Providing financial advice to all students and carrying out financial and administrative tasks for the college. The primary function of a Credit Controller is chasing debtors and managing all money borrowed or owed to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage debt recovery and minimalizing outstanding debt.
  • Effective and timely collection of all debt and assisting with incoming payments.
  • Produce weekly reports of debt analysis and highlighting any business risk and areas that need monitoring or escalating.
  • Negotiate repayment plans
  • Maintain contact with clients to ensure invoices are clear for payment
  • Resolve queries both internally and externally around outstanding invoices
  • Post and allocate daily receipts to accounting systems
  • Provide accounts information to internal departments
  • Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to students, agents and parents.
  • Complete routine financial tasks and maintaining spreadsheets and up to date financial records.
  • Prepare and issue enrolment letters, invoices, instalment reminders, and statements to students, parents and agents.
  • Update the Study Global financial by completing booking adjustments to reflect payments, in- centre book sales, exam payments, credit deposits.
  • Arrange and record refunds by cash or cheque.
  • Handle general financial queries from students, parents or agents.
  • Assist the Head of Finance and Operations with financial and general admin projects as required.
  • Build and maintain close links with all customers, to ensure smooth running of accounts and encouraging timely recovery of payments.

The successful applicant must have the following personal qualities:

  • Confidence and the ability to place pressure tactfully on individuals who owe money with empathy for the situations of others who may be unable to make payments on time

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Work experience or qualification in the fields of Customer services; Finance; Education
  • Appreciation of collections and debt management legal framework.
  • Recognised Accounting and/or Credit qualification (AAT, ICM, etc) or suitable experience.
  • Certified at enhanced DBS level (check undertaken prior to employment)
