Control Analyst

We are looking for a part time Control Analyst to join the Finance Shared Services team based in Brighton Head Office.

You will support the Control Manager in preparing and maintaining the integrity of the AP/AR Ledgers & Bank entries to include reconciliation and controls, monitoring systems and processes for UK, Europe, Singapore and North America with effective communication with all contacts across the business.

Job Purpose: to support the Control Manager in preparing and maintaining the integrity of the AP/AR Ledgers & Bank entries to include reconciliation and controls, monitoring systems and processes for UK, Europe, Singapore and North America; and effective communication with all contacts across the business.

Key responsibilities

Reconciliations

  • Accurate and timely bank reconciliations
  • Accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of campus petty cash records
  • Investigate and clear aged unreconciled bank/cashbook transactions
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies as required
  • Accurate month end bank/cashbook to GL reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts to include student Refunds & Deposits, Suspense Ledgers, Student Loans and Pocket Money
  • Investigate and clear aged Control Account transactions to include cleaning up student bookings

General

  • Assist the Control Manager with month/quarter end responsibilities; ensure deadlines are met
  • Assist with preparation of year end reconciliations, liaising with auditors as required
  • Maintain accurate records at all times
  • Ensure day to day queries are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, ensure pending issues are followed up at all times
  • Mailbox management; track and clear queries in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot system issues as required
  • Assist with DoA systems maintenance
  • Provide Change Management support as required
  • Prepare weekly metrics
  • Keep Control manager up-to-date with progress on tasks and objectives
  • Gain a full understanding of team duties, provide support and assistance to the team as required
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with the Payables/Receivables teams and Financial Control
  • Ensure continuous personal development with systems maintenance on Study Global, ROD & Agresso
  • Work closely with the wider finance teams and department managers in order to ensure accurate processing
  • Ad-hoc. Provide support and assistance to wider Finance team as and when required

Team working / Customer Service

  • Keep Control manager up-to-date with progress on tasks and objectives
  • Gain a full understanding of team duties, provide support and assistance to the team as required
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with the Payables/Receivables teams and Financial Control

What experience do you need?

  • Knowledge & a good understanding of the Accounts Payable & Receivable function
  • Proven experience within a high volume reconciliations environment

Required qualifications and training

  • Recognised Accounting qualification; AAT Qualified or studier is preferred or suitable experience

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong Excel skills V-Lookup and Pivot tables
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and a team player
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, accurate when working under pressure and to deadlines
  • Flexibility - being able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
