We’re looking for a high calibre Business Analyst on a permanent basis. Based at our Head Office in central Brighton (just a stone’s throw from the train station), in this job you’ll work as part of a team and will provide support to the Head of Financial Systems and Change on delivering key financial systems projects. You'll use your expertise to lead on business change deliverables and drive best practice, using your first rate communication skills to be the "bridge" between IT and finance, developing strong relationships with senior management, working groups, programme steering groups and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Among other things, the Business Analyst will be responsible for:

Current State Reviews

  • Conduct current state reviews of processes, policies, systems and organisational structures to identify issues
  • Produce ‘as is’ process maps, issues logs and other models to document the current state
  • Run workshops, conduct interviews, set up working groups to validate current state documentation and findings and secure buy in from key stakeholders

Future State Design

  • Work with the Head of Financial Systems and Change to agree design principles and goals of the future state design
  • Work with relevant SMEs, design the future state processes, policies and organisational structures that meet those design principles
  • Ensure key stakeholder (Working Group) have signed off the future state design
  • Document automation and information requirements so that IT can design system solutions that support the ‘to be’ design

Business Case Production

  • Work with the Head of Financial Systems and Change and Senior Stakeholders to define the business benefits of the future state
  • Work with IT to design and cost technology solutions that support the delivery of the future state and the benefits

Build and Test

  • Ensure that the solutions that are built support the future state design
  • Work with the test manager to define test scenarios
  • Participate in the testing of the new solutions


  • Set up and manage user acceptance testing
  • Ensure UAT is signed off

Training & Communications

  • Develop training materials and deliver training
  • Support the Head of Financial Systems and Change in delivering a communication plan and communication activities

Project Management

  • Define and maintain project plan for own deliverables
  • Agree key milestones with the business and deliver to agreed date
  • Support the Head of Financial Systems and Change in defining and controlling scope and budget for area of responsibility
  • Work with relevant managers / director to deliver the benefits as defined in the business plan
  • Ensure risks and issues pertaining to the design are documented and managed
  • Identify opportunities for change and help secure new projects that contribute to business strategy

Experience and qualifications required

  • Considerable experience in Business Analysis including requirements development and management
  • Good accounting knowledge and demonstrable experience of working within or with a Finance department on projects (preferred)
  • Experience of projects involving ERP or finance systems and/or experience in supporting an ERP or finance systems (preferred)
  • Broad understanding of controlled environments
  • Understanding of finance data, reconciliation, problems of controls caused by system interfaces etc (preferred.)
  • IT system analysis skills
