HR Operations Manager

Job overview

Provide high-quality leadership and manage an effective and efficient HR Operations function which delivers proactive and business-focused HR administration services, including recruitment support, reward and benefits management and HRMI, along with first level advice and guidance acting as an employee relations triage.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality leadership to the HR Operations Team in a proactive and positive way.
  • Build and develop the team to provide a robust Employee Relations Triage service, supporting the business with quality first level advice and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain the HR procedural maps documenting core HR processes, roles & responsibilities. Ensure operating processes are consistent with regulatory requirements in the areas of immigration, safeguarding and other regulatory compliance.
  • Create and monitor SLA’s and workflow processes for the delivery of HR services to the business.
  • Focus on ensuring compliance to Study Group minimum standards for HR Records and undertake audits as required.
  • Act as a second-line support/escalation point on more complex employee relations, administrative or process issues.
  • Act as the interface with the Corporate HR Team on all matters related to HRIS implementation, development and use. Participate in the development and implementation of global HR Systems projects as required.
  • Develop and support direct reports through robust performance management.
  • Manage quarterly data integrity audit and identify further opportunities to improve value of HR reporting.
  • Develop close and productive working relationships with colleagues within the wider global HR function and Payroll Teams.
  • Build strong and valuable relationships with senior managers and external stakeholders which contribute to the overall delivery of business outcomes.
  • Ensure that current/future HR needs of the organisation and legislative standards are identified and met by reviewing, improving and monitoring existing HR policies and developing new ones, as required. Ensure that the employment procedures or policies are updated and maintained on the intranet on a regular basis.
  • Work with the HR Business Partners to ensure that they are updated on operational issues, and identify where further improvements are required in client groups to meet process compliance requirements.

To contribute to the development of the wider HR strategy and work closely with the Director, Global HR Operations and HR management team to ensure cohesive and coordinated services across Study Group globally.

Experience

  • The successful individual will need to be someone who is able to operate at both a “hands-on” and more strategic conceptual level.
  • A recognised HR qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Deep understanding of HR policy and processes is essential.
  • Experience of managing the delivery of numerous HR services to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of working in an education or highly compliance-driven environment is essential.
  • Experience of working with hiring processes and benefits administration is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant employment law environment.
  • Experience of using HR systems and understanding of how these can be developed to improve HR services.
  • Competent in the use of Excel to undertake data analysis, manipulation and analysis to identify trends, points of interest etc
