Job overview

As the Head of Finance Control you will have a broad role which oversees the Financial Control Manager with the day to day management of the financial control team and will strive to improve controls and process. This will include all financial accounting for entities under the remit of the ANZ team, including responsibility for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow forecast and implementation of accounting standards. This role would have influence over the wider finance team and be back up to the Head of Finance.

This role is responsible for the coordination, resourcing and running of the annual audit and statutory account production for all entities in Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordination, resourcing and running of interim and annual audit ensuring deadlines are met, managing the relationship with the external auditors and updating Group of progress.
  • Lead on the delivery of the statutory accounts, local reporting, local tax reporting and compliance, working closely with tax and legal.
  • Work with Group on the assessment of future developments in applicable legislation and reporting standards relevant to the Finance function
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers and presenting these to Group/Local FD as required
  • Provide technical accounting and reporting support across Finance.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes. Emphasis on challenge and analytical review of month end close position to support effective financial control.
  • Ownership of the cash flow budget and forecast processes and daily liquidity reporting working with Group and treasury functions.
  • Own the balance sheet reconciliation policy; propose updates and amendments as required.
  • Lead on changes in financial regulations and legislation. Ensure that policies and procedures adopted in Sydney finance team meet current accounting standards
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with the FP&A teams.
  • Liaise and manage auditors at interim and year end closes
  • Coach and develop the team to maximise their contribution and realise potential
  • Build and maintain succession planning within the department.

Capabilities and Experience required

  • CA Qualified
  • 8 yrs+ PQE
  • Managing Audit
  • Financial Accounts preparation
  • Using a range of finance/MI systems
  • Team management experience
  • Working in a Global role across continents
  • Appreciation of IFRS and
  • Ability to prepare and review financial accounts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and convey technical information to non-finance audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to multi-task, managing up and downwards and prioritising accordingly
  • Relationship management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of accountancy systems
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong business acumen and confidence to influence decision making
