A rare and exciting opportunity has opened up in one of our leading ANZ Universities as Head of College based in Waikato.  We are looking for a strategic and commercially savvy leader to manage our Pathways College to the highest degree whilst ensuring the success of our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Pathways College, providing strategic leadership, guidance and advice with vision.
  • Provide leadership and take accountability for the ongoing development and implementation of a quality assurance framework encompassing all aspects of College operations.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the presentation and evaluation of the College’s academic profile with The University and the broader community.
  • Development and enhancement of strategic alliances with significant stakeholders, with a particular focus on key relationships with government regulatory bodies and other higher education institutions and Colleges within ANZ SGA.
  • Ensure the College operates within recognised principles, standards and protocols governing the education sector.
  • Identify and progress growth opportunities which align with both the College and SGA’s strategic direction.
  • Contribute to government reviews of the education sector.
  • Oversee and ensure preparation for periodic audits of the College by external authorities.
  • Contribute as a collaborative, constructive and proactive member of the ISC Leadership team within ANZ.
  • Build strong and sustainable relationships with the University so as to enhance access to university study through the provision of outstanding, innovative, relevant and effective pathway programs that meet the needs of domestic and international students and the expectations of the Government’s Tertiary Education Strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong and effective internal and external relationships that promote the College’s national and international profile.
  • Ensure that safe and healthy work practices are followed and that University policies and procedures, relevant work standards and statutory obligations are complied with.

To be successful in this role you will need the following Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant post graduate qualification essential
  • Leadership of medium to large teams & delivery in a commercial environment essential
  • PhD in relevant field highly desirable
  • Demonstrated high level academic or professional leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategies
  • Political nous and gravitas and personal inter relationship strength
  • enthusiasm and earn the respect of colleagues, and to act with professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Has developed and led cultures that are strategic in their action
  • Strategic finance, leadership and operational excellence focus & experience in the market
  • Excellent written, interpersonal & presentation communication skills
  • High level experience in presenting to commercial Boards
  • Excellent relationship building skills; proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Compliance leadership & understanding
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of the broader operational and cultural nature of a large tertiary organisation and the wider political environment
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, committed to innovation, positive and enthusiastic
  • A clear understanding of the broader national and international context of higher education and the business, government and industry context in which students/graduates will work
