Director of Global IT Delivery

Job overview

This role is responsible for managing the successful and timely delivery of Study Group software and systems development, the maintenance of all software platforms, the communication of development status to project management resources, business partners (where necessary) and within the IT organisation.

This role is responsible for ensuring that the Study Group development resources maintain the necessary skills to execute their roles as well as communicating and managing any resource constraints that exist from time to time.

This role will form part of the IT Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

  • This role manages all the activities of the software development group;
  • Sets attainable goals to team members in order for the project to be finished on time; provides guidance to team members to encourage work productivity;
  • Makes sure the timeline is followed by the software development group;
  • Manages multiple projects at once;
  • Ensures appropriate procedures and processes are followed when it comes to software development;
  • Represents the software department in meetings;
  • Participates in design control activities;
  • Monitors, evaluates and ensures the completion of tasks and projects;
  • Analyses software requirements;
  • Implements design plans, reviews unit tests; documents software development;
  • Monitors the status of developing software;
  • Writes, reviews and revises product requirements and specifications;
  • Participates in other areas of the software development process; and provides technical support to other company personnel.

Experience and qualification

  • To be successful in this role you must be familiar with a variety of development methods and processes.
  • You will require exceptional troubleshooting skills and be able to assess quickly complex systems applications.
  • Technology may require this role to keep up to date with the latest development software
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the industry
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
