An exciting opportunity has opened up as Academic Director of the Waikato Pathways College, located on the beautiful campus grounds of the University of Waikato. As a part of the Study Group portfolio of international study colleges, we are committed to developing and maintaining a high performing, inclusive and welcoming environment, and creating a better world through education.

We offer a range of pathway programs for international and domestic students who wish to progress into further studies in the University. Our programs include foundation Certificates for both domestic and international students, general and academic English language Certificates and courses, short courses for international groups, and the new International Diploma programs that constitute the first year of a Bachelor degree.

As the College is firmly focused on growth we are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Academic Director to enhance our existing programs and drive new developments, reporting to the Head of College this is a key leadership role with overall responsibility for academic direction and standards, and for creating a climate of student success. The role has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of academic programs in the College and for fostering a high quality teaching and learning environment and climate of student success. It will oversee all aspects of academic quality and lead curriculum development and professional development. This role will lead the College’s response to any new development initiatives that may be agreed between the University and the College from proposal development to eventual delivery. The role will respond to the reporting requirements of the various University and Study Group academic governance and review processes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of the tertiary education environment in New Zealand and internationally
  • Significant new programme development/improvement experience
  • Tertiary teaching experience
  • Significant exposure to academic management, governance, and review processes
