We’re looking for a dynamic and credible individual to be our Student Success Manager at one of our most important International Study Centers in North America - the University of Vermont. In this job you'll be responsible for ensuring students’ success, contributing to a culture of student service excellence by curating the student experience outside of the classroom, developing strong relationships with students through individual advising and group activities.

Please note that you'll need to work evenings and weekends on occasion.

Key responsibilities

Some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Organizing and delivering educational, social and cultural programming for Pathway students
  • Assist the VP of Operations with the overall management and leadership of the International Study Center and meeting the program’s Key Performance Indicators
  • Lead implementation of a student success model to include intensive intervention to support students with their social, cultural, emotional, psychological, and physical wellbeing
  • Facilitate regular individual conferences to monitor and support student progress, to help students assimilate in to the university, and to connect them with campus resources for success
  • Ensure the Pathway offers opportunities for student social development, acculturation, leadership, and service to the university and community
  • Assist with the planning of student arrival and orientation logistics and co-deliver a robust multi-day Orientation program
  • Assume responsibility for student emergencies and work in conjunction with first responders, hospital staff, and others to resolve student issues
  • Foster an excellent working relationship with the partner institution
  • Maintain statistical data, develop reports on student outcomes, and utilize assessment outcomes for program enhancement
  • Participate in on-campus and virtual recruitment and student yield events, supporting North American recruitment and admissions functions
  • Join in Study Group Higher Education and industry events and trainings
  • Manage social media pages and maintain a presence for admitted and current students

Qualifications and Attributes

You'll certainly have a Bachelor's degree. You'll ideally have a Master's degree in TESOL, Education, Intercultural Studies or similar.

In addition, you'll have:

  • Significant professional experience in student development/affairs
  • Significant experience working with international students and/or working or living outside of US
  • Experience developing relationships with peers, executives/senior staff, faculty, and students
  • Event coordination skills
  • Experience working in post-secondary education (preferred)
  • Academic coaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong leadership and organizational management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be skilled in integrating information, managing projects, developing staff and collaboration
