Study Group raises £27,000 in 24 hours for education in developing countries
21 November 2014
On Thursday 13th November, Study Group staff, teachers, students and agents came together for the Building Futures 24 Hour Challenge.
With an original target of raising £10,000 in 24 hours across the globe, the team surpassed this goal, raising more than £13,600 to advance education in developing countries, with more rolling in over the following days. With the company matching these funds, the total contribution to our charity partner - Plan International - will be more than £27,000.
This is the beginning of a big year for Building Futures, as Study Group’s charity enters its 10th year. Established in response to the destruction caused by the 2004 Tsunami in South East Asia, the charity has provided and improved education facilities in developing countries around the world in the last ten years. With eight worthy projects already completed, the money from the 24 hour challenge will go towards the ninth, which is yet to be decided.
Over the course of one day, students, teachers, staff and agents participated in more than 30 fundraising activities in at least 8 countries. These ranged from raffles to bake sales, and from a flea market to a sponsored run up the stairs of the tallest UK ISC building.
The event started in Australia and moved on to Singapore, Vietnam, Holland, the UK and North America as the day progressed. A big thank you to all involved.
