Liverpool John Moores University signs 10-year relationship agreement with Study Group

27 March 2014

Study Group is delighted to announce that additional programmes will be offered at the Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre as part of the contract

Study Group and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), who have been working together since 2008, have signed a relationship agreement that will usher in a wave of new academic and language programmes at the International Study Centre (ISC).

As part of the renewed contract, the LJMU ISC will offer a rejuvenated Business and Management International Year One, giving students the opportunity to progress onto a variety of undergraduate degrees, and a new International Year One in Engineering. In addition, a new English for Undergraduate or Postgraduate Study course, aimed at students who require additional English language training before starting their degree, will also be offered.

LJMU has confirmed that Study Group’s International Study Centre will move to the university’s modern city centre campus, once the construction project is completed in 2017.

The new agreement is part of LJMU’s long-term strategy that places internationalisation at the heart of the university’s agenda.

International students currently account for 5 per cent of the total student population, and the university has the ambition to increase this number to 15 per cent by 2021.

James Pitman, Managing Director, Higher Education UK & Europe, Study Group, said: “Driven by a senior management team with extensive experience in international education, Liverpool John Moores University offers a modern study experience based on almost 200 years of academic excellence that combines real world work experience with undergraduate and postgraduate study. Study Group’s global recruitment footprint means we’re well placed to help LJMU secure a diverse and high quality international student body.”

Dr. Edward Harcourt, LJMU’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement, added: “A strong relationship with Study Group will be essential to achieving our targeted increase in non-EU international student numbers. Our new campus will be in the heart of the city which will make LJMU an even more compelling study proposition and we’re looking forward to promoting the university to international students all over the world with Study Group.”
