02 November 2020

Study Group named as a finalist in the ‘Pathway Company of the Year’ category of the influential 2020 Global Education Investor Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence and innovation in education, with a particular focus this year on agility and resilience in the face of COVID-19.

A leading provider of high-quality international education around the world, Study Group works in partnership with universities to offer pathway courses leading to undergraduate and postgraduate study for 14,000 students from 140 countries. Study Group is also home to the specialist digital education company Insendi - founded by the Director of the EdTech Lab at Imperial College, London - which worked rapidly with Study Group teachers to support the development of high-quality online study for international students impacted by travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

Study Group CEO Emma Lancaster commented:

“We are particularly delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the Education Investor Global Awards this year, and that the work of our academic and professional staff to deliver an outstanding education for students has been acknowledged in this way.

“For 25 years, Study Group has focused on supporting international students to achieve their ambitions of studying in leading universities around the world, but the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 have demanded an exceptional effort from staff to provide the highest quality teaching and support at a distance as well as in person.

“Fortunately, Study Group had already identified the strategic importance of online education through our acquisition of the highly-respected expertise of the online education development team at Insendi, and it has been truly inspiring to see the way our staff have come together to develop new courses and materials which are engaging for students and allow them to continue to pursue their educational aims.”

Course innovations have included a new online Study Skills offer, Prepare for Success, and bespoke online courses in Academic English and preparation for study in key areas such as Business and Engineering.

Director and co-founder of Insendi, Dr David LeFevre added his congratulations:

“Since acquisition, Study Group has embraced the innovative technology and pedagogies we have developed at speed and produced what I believe to be the sector leading online pathway programme. Thousands of students are now enrolled on this programme and the response from students has been very positive. "

Study Group partners with more than 35 universities around the world and was named Education Investor’s Pathway Company of the Year in 2017. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced on Thursday, 3 December 2020.
