16 UK universities accept online delivery of Study Group programmes throughout 2021

04 September 2020

Study Group is delighted to announce that 16 universities we collaborate with in the UK will accept online-only delivery in 2021.

These universities have committed to recognising online-only teaching and assessment for progression from our pathway programmes, providing additional reassurance to international students at a time of unprecedented change.

Students can now be confident that, if they have to complete their entire programme online due to travel restrictions, they will be able to progress to their chosen university degree next September.*

This vote of confidence from universities in our online delivery will drive student confirmations for next year and limit disruption due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Study Group's Executive Director - UK & EU Dr Mark Cunnington,

“We are pleased to have collaborated with our university colleagues and that these institutions have recognised the specific challenges and uncertainties facing students this year as a result of COVID-19. While we are all doing our best to ensure students can be welcomed safely to their in-person studies as soon as possible, this important clarification sends a reassuring and encouraging message to students and their families. We hope our students can enjoy their studies in the UK soon, but as disruption continues in various parts of the world, this additional guarantee means their studies will be fully recognised by these university partners in the event students are unable to travel.”

Centres and Colleges offering online-only progression option

We have gained university commitment for an online-only progression option for the following Study Group Centres and Colleges:

Depending on circumstances, students will either:

  • start their studies in-centre
  • start their studies online from home
  • study their entire pathway programme online from home if they are unable to travel.

Highest quality teaching and student experience

Staff have experience in supporting hundreds of students to gain the education they need to start their degree at university. Programmes delivered by teachers, both virtually and in-centre, are of the highest quality.

Students starting their studies in the UK will benefit from a mixture of as many face-to-face interactions as possible, supported by virtual, teacher-led learning and social activities.

Students studying online from home will have the opportunity to engage with other students through our virtual learning platform allowing them to experience different cultures, form networks and make friends.

However students choose to study, they will be fully part of our international community from day one and will receive one-to-one support, giving them help and guidance every step of the way.

Creating a safe learning environment

Students able to travel to the UK can begin their studies at their Centre or College, where we have a rigorous health and safety risk assessment in place. Measures include the wearing of face coverings, hand sanitiser stations, enhanced cleaning, smaller classes and one-way systems where needed.

*Subject to meeting the progression requirements, universities have confirmed that if students are unable to travel for the whole of their pathway programme due to exceptional circumstances related to the pandemic, they will recognise online-only study and assessment for progression.

**Programmes approved for online teaching and assessment. Details of individual progression guarantees are subject to specific agreements with Bellerbys College progression partners.
