Study Group partners highlighted in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024

Two students on graduation day

Study Group partners are identified by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 as leading universities, with four university partners in the UK top 20 and eight in the top 30.

Durham University (7)

At number seven, Durham University — renowned for its research excellence, world-class teaching, collegiate system and Russell Group membership — maintains its top 10 position.

Recent graduate Dana travelled from the United Arab Emirates to begin her global higher education at Durham University International Study Centre, which is delivered by Study Group in partnership with Durham University. Dana says: “Coming to the UK was one of the best decisions I made, in terms of gaining independence, in terms of meeting new people, in terms of making new friends and just having the best time of my life for the past four years.”

University of Sheffield (18)

Climbing two places, University of Sheffield, also a Russell Group university, is known for its world-class research and focus on sustainability, with students of all subjects able to take a sustainability-related module.

Having successfully completed a pathway programme at the University of Sheffield International College, Geovanni from Mexico is studying for a BEng in Chemical Engineering. Geovanni says of his global education in Sheffield: “I feel studying in such a multicultural and diverse environment, is great. It broadens your depth of how you see things and it allows you to meet a lot of nice people that teach you perspectives on things that maybe you didn't think about in the first place.

University of Aberdeen (19)

Fourth in Scotland and 19th in the UK, the University of Aberdeen was founded in 1495. It builds on centuries of learning with a modern approach, with The Times writing that University of Aberdeen is, “in our top 20 for the third consecutive year partly due to the emphasis on active learning and community-building supplemented by virtual learning services, which has gone down well with its students.”

University of Strathclyde (20)

Based in Scotland’s second largest city, Glasgow, University of Strathclyde retains its UK top 20 ranking and further demonstrates the highly regarded reputation of Scotland as a study destination. Students enjoy a diverse community, the biggest engineering faculty in Scotland and academic rigour. As reported in The Times, the University’s £1bn investment in its city centre campus is nearing completion.

The top 30

University of Surrey (21), where students “report upbeat rates of satisfaction” in a location just one hour from London, secures a higher position in the Guide this year. University of Leeds (24) and Cardiff University (25), both Russell Group universities maintain their top 30 positions, with their leading approach to research delivering stimulating learning experiences for students. Royal Holloway, University of London (29), where students appreciate a peaceful, leafy location close to London, sits within the prestigious top 30.

insendi partners

insendi, a Study Group company, are leaders in online and blended learning for global higher education. They partner with leading business schools across the world to create transformational learning experiences. Two insendi partners, the University of Oxford (2) and Imperial College London (5), sit in the top 10.

On the new rankings, Study Group’s Managing Director, University Partnerships, Dr Mark Cunnington says:

"Congratulations to our university partners on their rankings in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. One of several sources that students can review when considering their choice of university, rankings help to demonstrate the impressive levels of student satisfaction, strong graduate outcomes and globally relevant research opportunities available at universities across the UK. It is our privilege to guide and support talented international students to achieve their ambitions at our partner institutions.”

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide is compiled using data and information from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, Research Excellence Framework 2021 and National Student Survey. The guide follows the release of The Guardian and the Daily Mail’s university rankings earlier this month.
