According to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, Study Group works with more top 20 universities than competitors

Study Group is pleased to announce exceptional performance in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide by the UK universities we work with, including more universities in the top 20 than any other pathway provider.

Top 20

In overall rankings Lancaster University, the University of Leeds, the University of Surrey, and the University of Sussex retain their standing in the top 20. With four institutions ranking in the top 20, Study Group works with more high ranking universities than any competitor.

A further six institutions also rank in the top 50:

  • 24th The University of Sheffield 
  • 25th University of Leicester 
  • 34th Royal Holloway, University of London 
  • 42nd Keele University 
  • 47th Coventry University 
  • 48th University of Strathclyde

The University of Lincoln shows impressive progress, increasing 11 total places from 62nd to 51st. Also making an impressive increase is Lancaster University, now in the top 10 for all three major league tables: the Guardian University Guide 2017, The Complete University Guide 2017 and The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017.

Excellent subject rankings

The individual subject rankings highlight a broad portfolio of excellence, providing students abundant opportunity to study specialised subjects at leading universities. In individual subjects, 13 institutions we work with consistently rank in the top 20.

Lancaster University has several reasons for celebration as it ranks in the top 10 for eight total subject areas, including Physics and Astronomy, Politics, Geography and Environmental Science, and Communication and Media Studies.

The universities we work with claim the top three rankings for Accounting and Finance with the University of Leeds in 1st place, Lancaster University in 2nd, and the University of Strathclyde in 3rd.  The University of Leicester rose up from 42 to gain a top 20 place in Accounting and Finance and two other universities we work with are ranked in the top 40 for Accounting and Finance: the University of Lincoln and Liverpool John Moores University (ranked 38 and 39 respectively).

In Business Studies, five of the top 20 positions are claimed by universities we work with. Lancaster University ranks in 5th, the University of Strathclyde in 8th, the University of Leeds ranks in 10th, the University of Sussex ranks in 16th, and the University of Sheffield in 20th.

Also, five of the top 10 positions for Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism are also claimed by our collaborating universities. The University of Strathclyde ranks in 3rd, the University of Surrey in 4th, the University of Lincoln ranks in 5th (climbing eight places from 13th), and Liverpool John Moores University ties for 7th with Coventry University.

In Communication and Media Studies, four of the top 10 positions are claimed by universities we work with. The University of Sheffield ranks in 3rd, Lancaster University in 4th, the University of Leeds in 5th, and the University of Leicester in 7th.

Our collaborating universities received impressive rankings in engineering. In Electric and Electronic Engineering five of the top 20 positions are claimed by the universities we work with. The University of Surrey ranks in 6th, the University of Leeds in 8th, the University of Strathclyde in 13th, the University of Sheffield ranks in 14th, and Lancaster University in 17th. While in Mechanical Engineering, four of the top 10 positions are claimed by our collaborating universities; the University of Leeds in 3rd, Lancaster University in 6th, the University of Surrey in 8th, and the University of Sheffield ranks in 10th.

University of the Year

Last year, we celebrated the success of the University of Surrey as University of the Year. This year the University of Leeds claims the prestigious University of the Year award, ranking 13th overall and in the top 10 for 11 subject areas, including Computer Science which shows a notable increase to 9th place, up nine places from last year. Further, the University of Leeds ranks in the top 20 for 16 total subject areas, including Mechanical Engineering, Communication and Media Studies, Civil Engineering, and Law.

University of the Year for Student Experience

Keele University claims the University of the Year for Student Experience award, being one of just three schools in the UK to break the 90% mark for student experience. Keele University attributes the success to efforts made by the university to provide an outstanding quality of student life.
