Royal Roads University Signs Partnership Agreement with Study Group

17 February 2011

Canada

It is the first partnership for Study Group in Canada and adds to the company’s presence in the crucial North American market for international students.

Study Group and Royal Roads University will work together on international student recruitment and in the provision of English language training, graduate preparation programs and the opportunity to complete a four-year undergraduate degree in just three years.

A new on-campus International Study Centre will also offer students the highest levels of study support to help them adapt to the learning and teaching styles of their new academic environment.

This agreement, which begins in September, is the first of its kind in Canada. It marks the next stage in the University’s plan to increase its international student enrolment and further develop its focus on innovation and global leadership.

“We live in a globalized world and we need leaders who can deliver opportunities for British Columbia and Canada now and into the future,” said Royal Roads University President Allan Cahoon.

“A quality-focused university must include a strong complement of programs and services for international students and a classroom experience that includes perspectives from around the world.

“A Royal Roads University education is about leadership and creating opportunities for growth and positive change in our world. This new partnership aligns fully with the international growth agenda set by the province of British Columbia and the federal government.”

Nick Rhodes, Managing Director of Study Group’s Higher Education division in North America said the agreement would make a significant contribution to developing the market for international education in Canada.

“In an increasingly competitive world, this new private-public partnership will support Royal Roads University in achieving its international student objectives,” he said.

Study Group Chief Executive Officer Heith Mackay-Cruise said the addition of Canada to Study Group’s educational program would increase the attractiveness to international students.

“It gives us another option to offer international students who may be considering study in North America,” he said.

Royal Roads University was established by the Province of British Columbia in 1995 specifically to deliver quality applied and professional programs to advance professionals in the workplace. The university blends online and on-campus learning with current, real-world relevance for doctorate, graduate and undergraduate degrees, certificates, diplomas, executive and custom education.
